Predicting Seedling Emergence of Three Canarygrass (Phalaris) Species under Semi-Arid Conditions Using Parametric and Non-Parametric Models

چکیده

The Phalaris genus includes annual weed species such as short-spiked canarygrass (Phalaris brachystachys Link.), little-seed minor Retz.) and hood paradoxa L.), which are especially problematic in Spain; such, there is a need to develop models predict the timing of their emergence. Field experiments were conducted at two different locations during (2006/07 2007/08) three (from 2005/06 growing seasons. In both locations, 500 seeds each sown season, simulating rain-fed cereal field conditions. addition, validated with three, four eight independent for P. brachystachys, paradoxa, respectively. emergence period lasted between 31 48 days after sowing (DAS), showing main flushes. cardinal points parametric non-parametric established be −1 °C 1 base temperature, 9.8 11.8 optimal temperature 21.2 23.4 ceiling temperature; water potential was estimated −1.1 MPa. Both obtained similar results successfully 12 out 15 experiments.

Supplementary Materials to “Combining parametric, semi-parametric, and non-parametric survival models with stacked survival models”

Section 1 demonstrates the connection between the Brier Score in the absence of censoring versus the inverse probability-of-censoring weighted Brier Score. Section 2 derives the meansquared error decomposition presented in Section 3 of the main paper, and presents illustrations and examples regarding the impact of candidate survival models on performance. In addition, a simple example illustrat...

Combining parametric, semi-parametric, and non-parametric survival models with stacked survival models.

For estimating conditional survival functions, non-parametric estimators can be preferred to parametric and semi-parametric estimators due to relaxed assumptions that enable robust estimation. Yet, even when misspecified, parametric and semi-parametric estimators can possess better operating characteristics in small sample sizes due to smaller variance than non-parametric estimators. Fundamenta...

Evaluation of Grain Yield Stability of Durum Wheat Genotypes Using Parametric and Non-Parametric Methods

Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L.), like most other crops, is affected by various stresses. Therefore, cultivars that, in addition to the ability to produce higher yields, can maintain their yield potential in different years and locations are considered superior cultivars. In order to obtain high-yielding and stable genotypes of durum wheat, 16 lines with two control cultivars Dehdasht and Sey...

Comparison of parametric and semi-parametric binary response models

A Bayesian semi-parametric estimation of the binary response model using Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithms is proposed. The performances of the parametric and semi-parametric models are presented. The mean squared errors, receiver operating characteristic curve, and the marginal effect are used as the model selection criteria. Simulated data and Monte Carlo experiments show that unless the bi...

Semi-parametric and Non-parametric Term Weighting for Information Retrieval

Most of the previous research on term weighting for information retrieval has focused on developing specialized parametric term weighting functions. Examples include TF.IDF vector-space formulations, BM25, and language modeling weighting. Each of these term weighting functions takes on a specific parametric form. While these weighting functions have proven to be highly effective, they impose st...
